Chiswick House

Walpole House

Walpole House has been regarded as ‘the finest house on Chiswick Mall’, and has features dating to the 16th and 17th centuries. It is named after its former occupant, the Hon Thomas Walpole (1727-1803), an MP and nephew of Sir Robert Walpole, England's first prime minister. It is a private residence and is NOT OPEN to the public.

The ghost of Barbara Villiers, Duchess of Cleveland, who died there in 1709, reputedly haunts it.
